Building Bridges

In recent weeks it has been amazing to be part of a church that is committed to building bridges to see God’s Kingdom advance. A few weeks ago at Living Hope Church we were able to build bridges internationally, within our city, and across a university campus.
Through much effort on Jeff Gates‘ behalf (Living Hope’s lead elder) we were able to have Adrian Warnock over from the UK. Adrian is a London-based Christian writer and preacher. He is part of the leadership team of Jubilee Church in London. Adrian’s latest book, Raised with Christ, can be found on Amazon.com as well as many other venues. Having Adrian visit from the UK helped us to see the vision that we are part of something bigger than St. Joseph, but the bridge building didn’t stop there.
Living Hope was able to partner with another local church in St. Joseph to sponsor a lecture featuring Adrian at the campus of Missouri Western State University. Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church pastor, Micah Fries, graciously offered any help we needed to prepare for such an event.
We were also able to invite Christian organizations on the campus of Missouri Western State University to be part of the lecture. I was delighted to see the Baptist Student Union, Christian Campus Fellowship, and Navigators all attend our meeting.
Adrian taught us many things about the resurrection that I will not forget. However, what will remain in my mind most are the bridges that were built. It was humbling to see each organization, church, and country come together for God’s mission. As we continue to press forward to see God’s kingdom advance we must utilize the bridges before us, but, and maybe more importantly so, we must look to build brides to with those we have only just met.
